She was chosen as the 2012 recipient of the Luella Bennack award at United Cerebral Palsy's 11th annual Women Who Care luncheon for her community projects and social impact. She advocates for the " To Write Love on Her Arms" organization. She started a campaign called "Out of the Shadows". Lee is the spokesperson of the Epilepsy Foundation.
As of mid-2007, she is the only original band member who is still in the band. Lee is the main lyricist and composer in the band and won the National Music Publisher's Association's Songwriter Icon Award in 2008 for her achievements as a songwriter. Lee is musically influenced by musicians and artists of different genres, from classical artists such as Mozart to modern artists like Björk, Portishead, Danny Elfman, Korn and Tori Amos. He also worked with KORN vocalist Jonathan Davis on music for the soundtrack of the film "Queen of the Damned". Bozzio, long considered one of the greatest drummers in rock, is best known for his work with MISSING PERSONS and FRANK ZAPPA. The 56-year-old Bozzio is sitting in for KORN drummer David Silveria, who announced in December that he was taking a "temporary hiatus" from the group for at least one studio album and tour. KORN is currently working with veteran rock drummer Terry Bozzio on its eighth studio album. KORN's video for the "unplugged" version of "Freak on a Leash", featuring a guest appearance by Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE, has been posted online at. The full "Unplugged" performance will appear online on February 24 and premiere on MTV on March 2. The album version of the performance will also include KORN's cover of "Creep" by RADIOHEAD. The performance, which was recorded Decemat MTV's Times Square (New York City) studios, includes guest appearances by Amy Lee of EVANESCENCE on "Freak on a Leash" and Robert Smith of THE CURE on a cover of the CURE classic "In Between Days". An e-card for KORN's "MTV Unplugged" CD, which has had its release date pushed back to March 6 from the previously announced February 20, has been made available at this location.
